About Denise

Based in San Francisco, Denise’s professional experience spans across teaching, curriculum design, writing and editing. 

After achieving her MA in English Literature, Denise traveled to Stratford-upon-Avon, UK to study at the Shakespeare Institute. Upon return to the States, she was offered a teaching position at San Francisco State University where she invites students to explore history through the lens of art and become better writers in the process. Denise has published dozens of course readers and serves as an Equity Fellow, championing inclusive, anti-racist and socially just pedagogy. Denise’s work has been included in various publications including Cambridge Vocabulary for Advanced with Answers; Passing Strange: Shakespeare, Race, and Contemporary America; Performing Disability in Early Modern English Drama, and The New Cambridge Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, Introduction.

Denise’s lifelong love of words, communication, and the mechanics of language has placed her in writing, editing, proofreading, content and copywriting roles for various companies including Cantellus Group, San Francisco State University — Go Gators! 🐊 — PlayShakespeare, SevenDesign, Z Gallerie, Lolli and Pops, and The Pattern.
